Top tips for planning your Afternoon Tea

This August, host an Afternoon Tea for people affected by breast cancer.

The money you raise could help someone with breast cancer get the support they need, by calling our free helpline. Or information they can trust, at one of the most stressful times in their life. It could even help fund our next world-class research breakthrough. Your support has never been more important than right now.

5 tips to help make your planning a piece of cake

1. Set a date early on

Setting a date will give you and your guests something to look forward to! Once you’ve picked a date, send out the lovely invitations from the fundraising kit and pop us an email letting us know when you’re holding your tea – so we can be sure to wish you the best of luck.

The countdown to your tea will then be on, how exciting!

2. Make donating as easy as one click

Fundraising has never been easier - just set up a JustGiving page and watch the donations roll in.

Setting up a page is a piece of cake! It makes it easy for your friends and family to donate, and the money comes straight to Breast Cancer Now.

See our handy blog on how to set up your JustGiving page.

3. Think about your menu

There are many debates when it comes to Afternoon Tea, like should jam or cream be first on scones? We could spend hours going back and forth, but there is one thing we all have in common: we all love having a slice of cake and a natter.

Think about what you want on your menu and how you’ll be raising funds on the day. It doesn’t matter if you bake it or fake it, the money you raise at your tea will help fund life-changing support and world-class breast cancer research.

We have lots of scrumptious recipes that you can follow and have created some fun cake flags and cake cards  that you can use.

4. Put the 'fun' in fundraising

There are lots of fun activities you can organise for your Afternoon Tea, like having a raffle, playing one of our special Afternoon Tea games or having a bake sale!

Browse the downloads section to see what games we have and take a peek at the handy blog we’ve put together, with seven fun activities to boost your fundraising.
