Crafty Afternoon Tea ideas

Fancy getting crafty for your Afternoon Tea? Here are some fun ideas for you and your guests.

Make a selfie frame

You can use leftover cardboard from parcels to make a selfie frame. To decorate the frame, use materials from your Afternoon Tea kit (and anything else you have and want to use). The pie’s the limit when it comes to decorating!

You and your guests can then take photos with your decorated selfie frame. It’s great fun and the photos will remind you of your special day.

Crochet some coasters

Hooked on crochet? Why not make some lovely coasters for your guests? You can find lots of free and easy patterns online.

We recommend you ask for a suggested donation of £2 for a coaster (or any amount you would like). That £2 could help buy basic supplies for our researchers. Think tiny test tubes for detailed experiments, or microscope slides to get a closer look at what’s causing breast cancer.

Have a cupcake decorating contest

Holding a cupcake decorating contest is a great way to get guests involved and create a buzz on the day. You could ask guests to decorate a cupcake with a specific theme, and see who comes out on top as star baker. It’s a lot of fun - so give it a Viennese whirl!

Knit mug cosies

Do you yarn for knitting? Then why not knit some mug cosies for your guests? They’re the perfect crafty addition to any tea. You can ask for a suggested donation, like £3 each or 2 for £5. £5 could help someone get vital answers by calling our free and confidential helpline. No question is too big or too small, and our breast cancer nurses and trained staff answer each call.

If you enjoy sewing, you could make some accessories to sell for a suggested donation at your event. You should be able to find lots of free sewing tutorials online. We love these purses that one of our fabulous fundraisers made for their Afternoon Tea.

If you want to make a purse like the one above, you could fit a health information card like the Know Your Breasts guide in it. This pocket-sized (A7) leaflet shows you how to be breast aware, the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and what to do if you notice a change.

To order some materials (like the above leaflet), just head to our extra orders site, select the items you’d like, and we’ll get them sent out to you.
