Every August, thousands of people dust off their whisks and stick the kettle on to hold an Afternoon Tea, raising money for people affected by breast cancer.

We’re incredibly grateful for all of the time and hard work our fabulous fundraisers put into their teas and we wanted to introduce a loyalty club to say an extra thank you to our supporters for going above and beyond every year!

What is the Afternoon Tea club?

The Afternoon Tea club is an opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate are fantastic fundraisers’ exceptional achievements.

Club members will have hit major Afternoon Tea fundraising milestones, like holding 5 events or raising £5,000 over the years.

Are there different club levels?

Yes there are! And of course, it’s tea themed. The levels have been listed below:

  • English Breakfast – £5k raised or 5 events
  • Earl Grey – £10k raised or 7 events
  • Peppermint – £15k raised or 9 events
  • Lemon & Ginger – £20k raised or 12 events
  • Chamomile – £30k raised or 15 events
  • Jasmine – £40k raised or 17 events
  • Darjeeling – £50k raised or 20 events

You reach the different levels by hosting a number of events or raising a certain amount over the years. For example, if you’ve held 5 events or raised £5k in total, you’ll be English Breakfast. Or if you’ve held 9 events or raised £15k in total, you’ll be Peppermint.

The club will always look at your previous Afternoon tea support, as we want to celebrate your loyalty.

What do members of the Afternoon Tea club receive?

We want Afternoon Tea club members to know how much we value their incredibly generous support, so club members will often be the first to hear Afternoon Tea updates.

When new or existing club members hit a new milestone, they will receive a special Afternoon Tea club letter and certificate. We hope they display them with pride!

I’m not close to even reaching the first level, is my fundraising still making a difference?

Yes, absolutely, 100%! The Afternoon Tea club is all about fun, celebration and recognition of supporters who have been holding Afternoon Tea for a while, but every penny counts and whatever you raise and however you get involved in Afternoon Tea, you are helping people affected by breast cancer and we truly think you are amazing.

The difference you make

Every 10 minutes, someone in the UK hears the words “you have breast cancer”. Afternoon Tea supporters are helping us be there for them, every step of the way.

Whether we’re offering trusted health information, giving someone much-needed reassurance on our helpline or funding groundbreaking projects led by the brightest minds in breast cancer research, we’re dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by breast cancer – now and for generations to come. But we can’t do it without you.

Meet some of our Afternoon Tea club members:

Meet Linda (Jasmine)

Linda Jeffrey

Linda has been supporting Breast Cancer Now for many years, she’s currently organising her 18th Afternoon Tea!

“I personally do the Afternoon Tea, because I have invested lots of time collecting everything you would need to put on an Afternoon Tea for up to 100+ visitors. It is held in my village hall and the hall gets set up just like a tearoom. Tablecloths, flowers, lots of china etc.”

“It means a lot because I have perfected it over the years to work seamlessly with my team of helpers, some that have been with me since 2005. It is a truly joyous event that is also a brilliant way to raise funds for such a worthy cause.”

“I am looking forward to an abundance of supporters to make this Afternoon Tea a real success and try and beat our last year’s total.”

Meet Cetti (English Breakfast)

Cetti at the table with a cup of tea

Cetti was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, she held her first Afternoon Tea just a few months after finishing her treatment and has taken part every year since.

“A neighbour of mine said, you should make your Afternoon Tea an annual event. And here we are four years later. I'm trying to make it bigger and better. I love looking after people and it was my way of saying thank you to everybody that looked after me. But also a very big thank you to Breast Cancer Now for all their support.”

Thank you!

Being able to count on supporters taking part in Afternoon Tea year on year gives us security and helps to raise the money we need to drive forward our life-saving research and give vital support. But we promise that if it’s your first Afternoon Tea or your fifth, your support is making a real difference, and we can’t thank you enough.
