About me:
I was 38 when I was diagnosed on New Year’s Eve with Grade 3 'Triple Negative' breast cancer. I had no children at the time of diagnosis and I was told the treatments would affect my fertility, so freezing my eggs was not an option. It was revealed in a scan I had more than 1 tumour and therefore I needed to start treatment immediately.
I had FEC-T chemo before surgery, which although I did find tough with the side effects, I had an excellent outcome.
No cancer was found during my surgery. I had a single mastectomy without reconstruction and full lymph node clearance from under one arm. I then had 15 rounds of radiotherapy as a preventative measure.
It was a very tough 8 months of my life and as Ronan Keating would say, "Life is a rollercoaster" - that would be the best way to describe my journey with cancer.
Life is slowly getting back to normal (a new normal). I ended my relationship and have since met a new partner, and life is very good.
I never used to be a worrier. However, since my diagnosis I do have health anxieties, but I have learnt ways to deal with it. I found it most difficult when the treatment had ended and was readjusting to life.
I'll try to answer any questions that you have about my experience and also tell you how I dealt with concerns.
