Family History and Genetics Champions Group

1. Purpose

To bring together healthcare professionals with an interest in family history and genetics within breast cancer care.

2. Membership

This group is open to:

  1. Healthcare professional hub members working in breast cancer or a family history setting.
  2. Genetic and family history nurses.
  3. Genetic counsellors, oncologists and other medical professionals.
  4. Allied healthcare professionals with a special interest in breast cancer or family history.

3. Group vision

  1. To bring together health professionals with a passion for improving access and education for people with a higher risk of developing breast cancer due to their family history and genetics.
  2. To provide peer support.
  3. To share learning and best practice within this area and provide education opportunities to improve clinical practice.
  4. To work towards standardised care and develop shared pathways.
  5. To promote the provision of good quality information.
  6. To support and raise awareness for people navigating the family history and genetics pathway with or without a breast cancer diagnosis.

4. How will members be updated?

  1. Regular email updates.
  2. 4 meetings a year (3 virtual, 1 face-to-face) which will include presentations and networking time.
