Over the past few months, we’ve been working with 6 of our Voices to set out our goals and priorities for the next year of Breast Cancer Voices.
Since relaunching in October 2021, Breast Cancer Voices has grown and strengthened. Our community now has over 1,000 members, and together you’ve gotten involved in over 220 opportunities. You’re helping to shape breast cancer research, care and policy, as well as our work across the charity.
But we’re not stopping there!
Following on from our 1-year evaluation, we’ve been working with a team of Voices members to develop our strategy for 2023-24.
Together, we looked at the results of the 1-year evaluation and established what is important to achieve over the next year. Over 4 meetings, we worked together to set our community goals and priorities to make sure that Breast Cancer Voices continues to grow and strengthen, and that everybody’s voice can be heard.

Our aims for this year
We want Breast Cancer Voices “to be a growing, diverse and representative community with a strong sense of connection with Breast Cancer Now and each other. We want them to be motivated and engaged, and to know their value and impact within Breast Cancer Now and wider breast cancer research and care.”
We’ll be looking especially at 4 areas:
Growing our community
We want Breast Cancer Voices to continue to grow so that our community represents the diverse experience and identities within the breast cancer population in the UK. We want to make sure that our membership is at least representative of groups which are currently underrepresented so that their experiences and needs are heard.
We’ll be looking at the information we share publicly about Breast Cancer Voices and how we can reach more people through different channels to encourage people to sign up.
Developing our welcome journey
When people join Breast Cancer Voices, we want them to feel welcomed and valued. We’ll be working hard to make sure that all louder Voices who have signed up for a welcome call receive one, and reviewing how we welcome people into the community.
Enabling high, diverse and sustained engagement
We want to support you to engage in opportunities as much as you want and make sure that opportunities are accessible for you.
This will especially involve looking at how we work with people or groups who may find it harder to get involved with us to make sure that they can. And we want to hear from you about what’s important. We’ll also support Breast Cancer Now staff to make sure that the opportunities we share with you are accessible for everyone who wants to take part.
Collecting and sharing feedback and impact
We want to have a 2-way relationship with our community of Voices. It’s important that you feel valued, know your impact, and can give feedback about your experiences of Voices.
We’ll be reviewing how we collect feedback from project leads about the opportunities you've been involved in and how we share that with you. We’ll also focus on making sure that you’re able to give feedback about the opportunities you’ve taken part in.
We’ll be running different project groups in some of these areas over the next year, so look out for opportunities to get involved.
