Could you help us keep people affected by breast cancer at the heart of our strategic direction for the research we fund?
The Science Strategy Committee is one of our advisory groups that oversees Breast Cancer Now’s research and funding to make sure that everything we do is in line with the charity’s values and vision.
We’d like to appoint two people to sit on Breast Cancer Now’s Science Strategy Committee to ensure the patient voice is at the table in discussions and decision-making.
Your insights and perspective as a patient representative – alongside our scientific advisors – could help to ensure that we fund the best research to meet our 2050 vision that everyone diagnosed with breast cancer lives, and is supported to live well.
Read the experience of our previous patient representative, Anna, about why she feels it’s so important to have a voice in our research, and the experience of the research team who recruited her, about how the patient voice fills a missing link.
We’d ask you to attend two in-person meetings a year in London from March 2023, where you can provide your perspective in our discussions.
You’d be asked to read papers to prepare for the meetings, which should take around 3-4 hours per meeting.
Anyone with personal experience of breast cancer (either personally or through the experience of a loved one).
You do not need to have a scientific or research background, but a keen interest in breast cancer research will be useful.
