Understanding trends in breast cancer treatment outcomes

Categories: Patient & Carer, Interest In Research

Become a patient representative for a collaborative group that’s looking to improve support and treatment for people living with breast cancer.

What’s the project about?

The Early Breast Cancer Trialists’ Collaborative Group (EBCTCG) has been bringing together and analysing the evidence on major questions for support and treatment in early breast cancer. This is done by analysing data from multiple large-scale studies and follow-ups. The organisers of this study are looking for a patient representative to contribute to the group and represent the interests and thoughts of people living with the disease.

Who can take part?

You can join the group if you've been personally affected by breast cancer and are interested in breast cancer research.

Why do you want me to be involved?

You'll represent the voice and interests of people with breast cancer in this collaborative group. Your input will make sure that the work performed puts people with breast cancer at the front of the analysis and publications. You'll also help identify questions important to people living with the disease.

What will you ask me to do?

This will be a long-term role. As a patient representative, you'll join meetings and teleconferences 3 times a year to discuss findings presented at EBCTCG meetings.

You'll also take part in the steering committee and main meetings and will have early access to the topics to guide the subjects at these meetings.

In addition, you’ll also give input into draft scientific papers (around 2-5 per year) as well as analysis questions.

You’ll also be encouraged to provide advice on any other matters related to EBCTCG analysis and publications, where needed.
