Join the NCRI’s breast group to work with scientists and healthcare professionals in guiding breast cancer research in the UK.
What’s the project about?
The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) is looking for people to join their NCRI Breast Group. This group is made up of healthcare professionals, scientists, patients and carers. They meet together to set the priorities in breast cancer research, and identify unmet needs of people with breast cancer and how to address them.
The Breast Group is one of 15 groups in the NCRI Consumer Forum, who represent people affected by different types of cancer. The groups play an important role in the UK’s cancer research, ensuring improvements for patients in research and care.
Who can take part?
Anyone who
- Has personal experience of breast cancer, either as a patient or carer
- Is confident sharing in a group setting
- Is interested in keeping up to date with current cancer research
Why do you want me to be involved?
By joining the NCRI Breast Group, you’ll be making sure that breast cancer research is driven by the needs and priorities of people affected by it.
What will you ask me to do?
The role lasts for 3 years and will include joining online meetings with the Breast Group 2-3 times a year.
In these meetings you’ll hear and give updates about what different people in the group are working on.
You’ll also be invited to join the BCRI Consumer Forum meetings 3 times a year, where you can meet people from other groups and hear about that they’re doing.
