Apply to become a patient advocate with the Cancer Research UK City of London Centre and help to shape and evaluate their patient and public involvement and engagement activities.
The Cancer Research UK (CRUK) City of London Centre is a world class hub for cancer biological therapies. Biological therapies use the body’s immune system, either directly or indirectly, to fight cancer or to reduce the side effects that may be caused by some cancer treatments.
The Centre brings together researchers from four of the central London Universities and Institutes: University College London, King’s College London, Barts / Queen Mary University of London and The Francis Crick Institute.
They’re looking for 2 patient advocates to join their patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) committee to help implement and evaluate their strategy and activities.

By getting involved as a patient advocate, you can ensure that the voice of lived experience is represented when implementing or evaluating the City of London Centre’s activities. This can make sure that their work is informed by and more beneficial for people affected by breast cancer.
You’ll be a member of the Centre PPIE committee who develops and implements the Centre’s PPIE strategy and evaluate the Centre PPIE activities.
You’ll be expected to attend around 6 one-hour meetings a year (in-person or online) and the Centre annual symposium (2 days a year in person). You’ll also be asked to commit to approximately 2 days to evaluate PPIE activities in your own time, and any ad hoc activities.
You don’t need to have any prior knowledge of cancer research.
You’ll be asked to ideally commit to being part of the group for 1 year, however there is no set period, and membership is reviewed annually.
You’ll be paid honorarium (for meetings and agreed offline work) and expenses per the CRUK policy.
