Become a patient advocate to make sure that improvements to breast cancer services are led by the needs and perspectives of people with breast cancer.
We’re looking for volunteer patient advocates who can use their experience of breast cancer to help improve breast care services as part of the Service Pledge.
As a patient advocate, you’ll work alongside local healthcare professionals and patients to help them improve their local breast care service. You’ll also bring an objective patient voice to the development of improvements, using your own experience of breast cancer.
You can take part if you’ve had a personal diagnosis of breast cancer.
If you’ve had primary breast cancer, you need to have finished active (hospital based) treatment at least 6 months ago. Or, if you have secondary breast cancer, to be at least 6 months from your diagnosis.
We really welcome applications from people with a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer.
As a patient advocate, you can make sure that improvements to local breast cancer services are informed by the needs of people with breast cancer.
This will help cancer services make meaningful changes which benefit people diagnosed with breast cancer.
You’ll be involved throughout the Service Pledge programme between September 2023 and September 2024.
This will include:
You’ll be asked to commit around 4-5 hours a month.
