A Black woman reading a cancer information pack

Secondary breast cancer information pack review

Categories: Secondary Breast Cancer

Share your experiences of living with secondary breast cancer, to help us improve the quality of our information pack and website.

What's the project about?

Breast Cancer Now’s Health Information and Nursing teams are in the middle of reviewing and updating our secondary breast cancer information pack. They’ve completed their initial review and would really appreciate it if people living with secondary breast cancer could give their thoughts on the draft information (it is also being reviewed by external healthcare professionals).

The pack is very comprehensive, so you can review some of the information, or all of it. Pick and choose the parts that interest you the most. The information will also be used to help update our webpages on secondary breast cancer.

The pack is broken down into five sections:

  • The first part of the pack explains what secondary breast cancer is, looks at treatments and side effects, and has information about monitoring and coping with the physical effects of the condition
  • The second part of the pack is called ‘Your needs and concerns with secondary breast cancer’. This looks at how to make sure needs are met, from emotional and practical needs to concerns about relationships, work and finances, and health and wellbeing
  • A personal organiser for recording pain, fatigue, results etc
  • A pull-out leaflet on supporting someone with secondary breast cancer
  • A booklet on planning ahead about choices and decisions about the end of life

We are also looking for people who would like to provide hints and tips for people with secondary breast cancer. The tips can be about anything that relates to the experience of being diagnosed with or treated for secondary breast cancer, or guidance on living with secondary breast cancer. They are intended to be short snippets, up to about 200 words.

We want to be able to pass on useful information that may help make living with secondary breast cancer a little easier. If this is something you would like to do, we have a list of headings from the pack that these tips could fall into, but are broadly covered by the list of the content of the pack above.
