Managing nerve damage after chemotherapy

Take part in an interview to help researchers design a device to help people with nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) as a result of chemotherapy.

Project title: CoolCare – creating a device to help with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy

What’s the study about?

People having chemotherapy may have pain, numbness or tingling in their hands and feet. This is called chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, and happens because some chemotherapies can damage the nerves. These symptoms can affect your quality of life after breast cancer treatment.

Researchers are developing a device to prevent and control these symptoms. They’d like to hear about needs of those living with neuropathy as a result of chemotherapy to help them understand what people need from the device.

Who can take part?

You can take part if you've received chemotherapy and experienced any symptoms of neuropathy like pain, numbness or tingling.

You can also take part if you’ve been a carer for someone who’s experienced chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.

Why do you want me to be involved?

The researchers want to create a device to help manage symptoms of neuropathy that can be used with comfort and confidence.

So, it’s important that people who live with chemotherapy-induced neuropathy are involved in this process. Your involvement will make sure that the design and function of it are meeting the needs of people affected.

What will you ask me to do?

You'll be asked to take part in a 20-minute 1-to-1 interview online or over the phone. The researchers will ask questions about how neuropathy has impacted your life during and after chemotherapy.

You’ll also be asked about what you expect from the device and give feedback during its development.

How do I get involved?
