Long-term health of cancer survivors

Categories: Patient & Carer

Join an advisory groupto ensure that research into the long-term health of cancer survivors is informed by people affected by breast cancer.

What’s the project about?

The Beyond Cancer group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, led by Professor Bhaskaran, investigates the long-term health of cancer survivors. This includes both physical and mental health.

They'd like to recruit patient representatives for their Beyond Cancer Voices advisory group, to ensure that the patient voice is an active part of our work. They’re looking for people who are interested in the long-term health and wellbeing of cancer survivors.

Who can take part?

You can join if you, or someone you support, are living beyond cancer.

Why do you want me to be involved?

By joining, you can make sure that the voice of lived experience is an active part of the Beyond Cancer team. This is important to ensure that the research reflects the needs and priorities of people affected by cancer.

What will you ask me to do?

There will be one advisory panel meeting per year. Each meeting will run for half a day. You’ll also be asked to read some materials in advance of the meeting. This shouldn’t take more than 2-3 hours of your time.

Additionally, the researchers may contact you directly to ask for your thoughts on specific research ideas or grant applications. This shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours during the year.

The first, introductory, meeting will take place in the Spring of 2024. Meetings will be held in person at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, in central London. There will be an option for you to join remotely, via telephone or videoconference, if that is better for you.
