Patients and researchers in discussion

Interested in knowing more about scientific research and patient advocacy?

Categories: Research Event, Patient & Carer

We want to hear about your interest in scientific research and what you'd like to know about patient advocacy - so we can develop an event that welcomes everyone.

What’s the project?

We're planning an event to open up research Involvement to more voices who can help shape our research in the future.

You'll have the opportunity to see inside a research lab, hear directly from researchers about their current research projects and find out more from Breast Cancer Now about how patient and carer experiences can shape and impact scientific research for the benefit of those affected by breast cancer.

There will also be a chance to hear from existing patient advocates about their experiences of research involvement as well as an opportunity to ask them any questions you might have about what it means to be involved in scientific research.

Why do you want me to be involved?

We want to enable more people to get involved in scientific research in the future by building their knowledge and confidence.

We want to hear from a wider range of people and make it  easier for them to help shape our research.
You can help us by sharing what your questions and challenges are, so we can ensure we design an event that welcomes everyone and enable all voices to be heard in research.

What will you ask me to do?

At this stage we’re simply asking you to complete a survey to share what your level of understanding and knowledge about scientific research is, the reasons why you might or might not get involved and what would make it easier for you.

Who can take part?

Absolutely anyone! Will be of most interest to those who have an interest in science, but there is no need to have any experience, and you don’t need any pre-existing knowledge of patient advocacy.
