Improving sleep for people on hormone treatment

Categories: Hormone treatment, 5 years

Help develop a study that is exploring how hormone treatment for breast cancer affects your sleep and how it could be improved.

What’s the project?

Researchers at the University of Bristol are developing a research study about improving sleep quality for people undergoing hormone treatment for breast cancer. They want to find ways to improve sleep quality. And to see if this helps people to continue taking their hormone treatment.

Why do you want me to be involved?

Your thoughts and insight will help researchers understand how hormone treatment affects your sleep quality, and experience of breast cancer treatment.

This will help them to design a research study that focuses on things important to you. And it could improve experiences of people having hormone treatment.

What will you ask me to do?

You will be asked to join an online focus group of up to 8 people. Focus group will be held in February or March and the group will last between 60 and 90 minutes.

The researchers will ask you about the quality of your sleep during and shortly after having treatment for breast cancer.  They’ll also ask whether this has impacted other aspects of your life. You can also share your views on how we design a research study to improve sleep for future people with breast cancer.

Who can take part?

People who

  • Have had a diagnosis of breast cancer within the last 5 years
  • Had not gone through menopause before their diagnosis
  • Feel that their hormone treatment has affected the quality of their sleep
