Patient or loved one | Stage 3 and 4 breast cancer
Help shape a commercial trial in advanced cancers by giving feedback on the participant information and making sure it's accessible and clear.
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) works with companies in the pharma and life science sector to help connect them with people with lived experience to shape their research.
They’re currently working with a company who’s designing a clinical trial into advanced cancers (stages 3 and 4), and are looking for feedback on the trial design.

You can take part if you:
They especially want to hear from people with experience of breast cancer.
By getting involved, you can ensure that the trial reflects the needs and priorities of people affected by cancer. And that the resources and materials given to participants are clear and accessible.
If you’re selected for the activity, you’ll be asked to read through draft documents (that have been prepared for people interested in taking part in the study) and share your thoughts on how clearly the information is presented.
The researchers want to make sure that the materials are informative, accessible, engaging and fit for purpose, and that the language used is appropriate for potential participants and carers.
The NIHR PECD Team will support you throughout this process and provide any information or guidance you may need.
It’ll take you up to 2 hours to read the documents and complete the feedback form. You’ll be given 10 days to complete your review and send back your comments.
The NIHR, on behalf of the company we are working with, will reimburse you £50 for your participation. This will be paid by bank transfer, usually 6 weeks after the activity has taken place (although it can occasionally take a little longer). You can find information about payment for research involvement activities and the impact this may have on your tax and national insurance on the NIHR website.
If you’d like to take part in this opportunity, please complete the online application form. You can read the information sheet for more details of the project.
If you have any questions about the PECD Service or the planned activity, or have any difficulties completing the application form, please contact the NIHR PECD Service Coordinator by emailing pecd@leeds.ac.uk
