How does a breast cancer diagnosis affect you?

Category: Personal diagnosis

Attend an online workshop to help us understand the state of mind of people affected by a secondary breast cancer diagnosis.

What’s the project about?

We know that having a breast cancer diagnosis affects people in different ways. We want to build a richer picture around the states of mind people affected by breast cancer go through as they experience primary or secondary breast cancer.

We're particularly keen to delve into factors (such as personality and outlook on life) that could have affected the way you thought or felt as you learnt about your breast cancer diagnosis. And what affects your experience as you live with, and are treated for secondary breast cancer.

Who’s organising it?

Name of project lead: Lucy Southall

Job title: Head of Digital Transformation

Organisation: Breast Cancer Now

Who can take part?

You’ve can take part if you’re living with secondary breast cancer.

Why do you want me to be involved?

By sharing your experiences, you can help us ensure that our digital products are developed with empathy and an understanding of what people are going through and what they need. This will help improve the people using our digital products such as our website.

What will you ask me to do?

We’re inviting you to a two-hour online workshop with others who are living with secondary breast cancer. The workshop will be facilitated by an outside facilitator from Manifesto called Akhil Morjaria.

The workshop will be held on Zoom on Wednesday 9 October from 11am to 1pm

We’ll discuss how you were feeling and what you were doing at the various stages of breast cancer. Collectively, we’ll explore what factors could have played a part in influencing your thoughts, behaviours and decisions (with a focus on mindsets, outlooks and personality traits)

How do I get involved?

If you’d like to take part, or if you have any questions, please email Lucy.

Please also get in touch if you have any questions.
