Help us secure long-term funding for a family history clinic

Categories: Patient & Carer, Family History

Share why family history services are important to you to help secure funding for a dedicated family history service.

What’s the project about?

The South West London, Surrey and West Sussex genetics service is trying to get long term funding for a family history clinic, so all people with moderate or high risk of breast cancer can get the screening and advice they need.

This clinic has been funded for the last two years as a pilot service and now needs to secure sustainable funding to make it a permanent part of their work, to better help and people women at an increased risk of breast cancer.

The service is looking for patients with a family history or genetic risk of breast cancer to share their experiences of how having access to a family history assessment service helped them understand their breast cancer risk and get the care they need.

Who can take part?

We’d like to hear from people who’ve accessed family history and clinical genetics services, either with or without a personal diagnosis of breast cancer.

Why do you want me to be involved?

Your voice will help us show NHS decision makers the importance of funding this service to benefit our community. By sharing your experience, you can help the service get long term funding for the service to continue, leading to vital ongoing support for many people.

What will you ask me to do?

We’d like you to share your experience of accessing family history support. And how that has helped you understand your risk of breast cancer and access care and support.
