Help us reach more people with our support services

Categories: Personal Diagnosis, Underserved Groups

Join an online event to hear about an opportunity to work with us to help make our support more accessible and approachable.

Event description

We know that health inequalities can affect every aspect of someone’s experience of breast cancer. People from certain groups are less likely to have a positive experience of breast cancer treatment and support than others, and may have worse health outcomes long term.

We’ve identified 4 groups who are more likely to experience health inequalities. These are:

  • Black women
  • Women from south Asian communities
  • People over 70
  • People from socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

Our EDI services improvement project aims to understand what’s important to people from these groups, how we can best support them through breast cancer, and how we can improve our services to reach more people.

We’ll be setting up a project group to invite people from these communities to contribute to this project. But first of all, we’re organising an information session where you can hear more about the project and how you can get involved.

Why will this be interesting for me?

At this session, you can find out more about the project group, and if it’s something you would like to get involved with.

The project group will contribute to our EDI services improvement project at key stages by sharing their own insight and by helping us develop research into the needs of their communities.

By being part of the group, you can ensure that the experiences of people with breast cancer are at the heart of the project. You’ll also help us make sure that the project and any outcomes are relevant to and beneficial to your communities.

This is vital in making our services accessible and impactful for more people and communities, and improving the experiences of people from underserved communities.

Who is it relevant for?

We’d like to recruit 4-5 group members who’ve had a personal diagnosis of breast cancer and are part of one or more of these groups:

  • Black women
  • South Asian women
  • People over 70
  • People from socio-economically disadvantaged areas
