Patients and researchers in discussion

Find out how you can influence scientific research

Categories: Patient & Carer

Join us for an event aimed at opening up involvement in scientific research to a wider range of people - a limited number of places remaining!

What’s the project?

The Breast Cancer Now Research Unit at King’s College London (KCL) and the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)are hosting an event where you can find out more about our scientific research and what it means to be a patient advocate.

The event (both online and in-person) will Include talks from researchers, patient advocates and Breast Cancer Now, a tour of the research labs, and plenty of time to discuss and meet with researchers and patient advocates to ask your questions.

Why do you want me to be involved?

We believe that your experiences and expertise are crucial to developing scientific research programmes that have the most impact.

We want to build your knowledge and confidence to ensure we're involving and hearing from as wide a range of people as possible. We hope you'll go away from the event with a better understanding of whether patient advocacy is for you and the confidence to get more involved in the future and add your vital perspectives and experiences.

What will you ask me to do?

Join us in person at the Guy’s Hospital Cancer Centre in London on the afternoon of Wednesday 2 November!

As we’re unable to support with travel costs for this event – or if travel would be a barrier to you joining – there is also the option to participate in the event online, including our specially-created virtual tour!

We're just asking you to complete our short expression of interest form, so we can get an idea of numbers and any adjustments we can make to help you take part as fully as possible. Please note there is limited capacity both in person and online - if we're not able to offer you a place this time, we will be recording the talks and making the virtual tour available to anyone who does register their interest.

Who can take part?

Absolutely anyone! It may appeal more if you have an interest in science, but there's no need to have any experience, and you don’t need any pre-existing knowledge of patient advocacy.

How do I get involved?

Fill in our expression of interest form or get in touch to find out more.

Once we have your details, we'll be sharing more information and an Eventbrite link to sign up to the event in due course.
