Resilience and distress in people living beyond cancer

Complete an online survey exploring experiences of resilience and distress in people living beyond cancer.

What’s the project about?

Many people living beyond cancer experience ongoing emotional distress after treatment has ended.

This project is focused on understanding what fosters resilience to distress in people who’ve had a cancer diagnosis. The researchers hope that understanding resilience could help them develop treatments to improve quality of life in the future.

Who can take part?

You can take part if you have been treated for primary breast cancer within the last 3 years.

You must also be over the age of 18.

Why do you want me to be involved?

Your thoughts and experiences will help the researchers to better understand resilience, distress and quality of life in people who’ve had a breast cancer diagnosis.

Your input will help to identify ways to support people who’ve had breast cancer so that they can thrive beyond diagnosis and treatment.

What will you ask me to do?

You’ll be asked to take part in an online survey that will explore your thoughts and feelings about a diagnosis of breast cancer. Specifically, it will focus on resilience, fear of cancer recurrence as well as experiences of low mood, anxiety, worry and thoughts about death.

It will take around 35 minutes to complete and will be conducted online.

How do I get involved?

Please complete the online survey. The participant information sheet is at the beginning of the survey.

If you have any questions or feedback about the study, you can contact the study lead, Dr Brittannia Volkmer at brittannia.volkmer@kcl.ac.uk.

When’s the deadline?

1 July 2024.
