Help researchers understand expectations of using NHS urgent and emergency care services for breast and nipple problems.

What’s the study about?

NHS 111 can help you get medical help right away if you think you need it. You can get help by using 111 online or calling 111. Depending on what you need, these services can give different advice.

This research will help NHS England understand more about people's expectations of using 111 online for breast and nipple problems.

The researchers are conducting interviews where they’d like to hear about:

  • your experience of choosing a health service to go to for a breast or nipple problem
  • your expectations and needs for using 111 online for breast or nipple problems

Who can take part?

You can take part if you live in England, are over the age of 18 and have a smartphone, tablet or computer with internet access.

The researchers are looking to recruit people who have used NHS services for breast or nipple problems. For example, visiting a GP to discuss your problems, or attending an appointment at a breast diagnostic clinic.

Why do you want me to be involved?

The researchers are working to improve the 111 online services and to make sure they’re doing the right thing for everybody. Taking part in the research will help them to improve our service through your feedback.

What will you ask me to do?

You’ll be asked to complete a screening survey and consent form. If you're eligible, you’ll be invited to take part in a remote interview on 5 February, 6 February, or the morning of 8 February.

The interview will last a maximum of 60 minutes and will take place on Microsoft Teams.

The researchers will take notes during the interview. They’ll also ask you if we can audio record the interview and record what you're doing on your screen. Your face will not be visible in the recording. You can let the researcher know if you don’t want to be recorded.

Taking part in this research is voluntary. You can take a break at any time. You can also ask questions at any time.

NHS England offers a £40 gift voucher for people who take part in these remote research sessions to thank them for their time. Gift vouchers will be sent via email through an external website called EdenRed.
