You can help test a course helping people with long-term health conditions, such as cancer, chronic pain and others to learn self-kindness.
What's the project about?
We know that people with long-term health conditions, including breast cancer, can feel self-critical, feel shame related to their condition or blame themselves for it.
There is growing evidence that an approach called compassion-focused therapy could help. It involves the idea that people should treat themselves with the same care as they would treat their loved ones.
Researchers have developed an online course on self-compassion. It contains videos, exercises and work sheets to help people learn about self-kindness and acceptance.
Now, they need your help to test it. They want to see if it can help people manage the relationship with their long-term condition in a better way.
What are the criteria for taking part?
You may be eligible to take part if you have a long-term health condition, such as breast cancer, for one year or longer and are looking for ways to manage it better. Maybe the condition has been causing distress, self-criticism, or pain.
