Doctor's consultation at the clinic

Help test a questionnaire measuring patient empowerment

You can help create a way to accurately measure how useful consultations with healthcare professionals are.

What's the project about?

We know that people with long-term health conditions, including breast cancer, don’t always feel that interactions with healthcare professionals are helping them to cope with their condition day to day.

And until now, there hasn’t been a way to accurately measure how beneficial and empowering (or not) people find their meetings with healthcare professionals.
That’s why researchers designed the EMPOWER-UP questionnaire. It aims to measure how useful health consultations are for patients.
Now they need your help to finish its development and to test whether the questionnaire works well and is reliable.

What are the criteria for taking part?

The questionnaire is open to people aged 18 or over, with a diagnosis of cancer, diabetes, or mental health problems, living in the UK. People diagnosed with cancer can be receiving treatment of any kind, for any stage of cancer.
All participants need to understand English, as this is the language used in the questionnaire.
