Meet the Breast Cancer Voices team

Hello and welcome to Breast Cancer Voices! We’d like to introduce you to the staff team behind Breast Cancer Voices so you can get a picture of what we do and what makes us tick.

You can also read about the wonderful telephone volunteers who are part of our team and see how they are involved in building our relationship with our louder Voices. But first, here’s a message from each of our staff team members…

Breast Cancer Now Voices Team

Sarah, involvement officer

My name’s Sarah and I joined Breast Cancer now at the end of 2022. My role is involvement officer – in other words, I’m responsible for the day-to-day running of Voices, and for developing and strengthening our community and impact across Breast Cancer Now and beyond. What this looks like is managing all of the opportunities that come in from Breast Cancer Now colleagues, researchers and other organisations, and sharing them with you in the monthly bulletin or in louder Voice emails. I also coordinate the Guest Voice contribution for each month’s bulletin. I love hearing your stories and getting to know you better through this.

Another part of my role is finding new ways for you to connect with each other, and looking at how we can make sure that your diverse voices and experiences are represented as widely as possible within the work of Breast Cancer Now and the world of breast cancer.

Susanna, Patient Experience Lead

Hello, I’m Susanna, Patient Experience Lead. I’ve worked on patient involvement and service improvement projects at the charity since 2014. My role with Voices is to ensure our colleagues understand how best to involve you in their projects and can make the most of your incredible expertise and range of experiences to ensure that all our work puts your voices at the very heart.

We all love working with such a powerful, diverse community of different voices who are all passionate to use your experiences for the benefit of others. Thank you for everything you do!

Our volunteers

Eithne, Fola, Michelle, Vicky, Voices Telephone Volunteers

Our role is to welcome members who have signed up as a louder Voice, completed the Getting to Know You survey and opted in for a call. We’re going through training in Spring 2022 and will start on calls in the summer.

‘I’m extremely excited to be part of this new team – we’re really going to make a difference once we are up and running. As a Voices Telephone Volunteer, I’m here to listen to you and help you to find the right connections to help you move forward. I really wanted a volunteer role that would make a difference to people’s lives. I believe that this role will do exactly that’ – Michelle
