Older people and breast cancer: tell your story at official inquiry

We're hearing that older people with breast cancer may not be receiving the level and type of support treatment and information they need as we outlined in our 2011 policy briefing.

We're hearing that older people with breast cancer may not be receiving the level and type of support treatment and information they need as we outlined in our 2011 policy briefing Improving outcomes and experiences for older women with breast cancer.

Now we're working with charities Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign on a parliamentary inquiry into older people and breast cancer being led by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Breast Cancer.

The inquiry will collect evidence on three key areas:

  • breast cancer risk awareness and early detection/late presentation
  • access to gold-standard treatments including breast reconstruction and to clinical trials
  • access to information and support.

The inquiry wants to hear from people who have been diagnosed over the age of 65 in the past five years or their families partners and carers.

For more information visit the APPG on Breast Cancer’s website or contact appg@breakthrough.org.uk (Breakthrough Breast Cancer provides administrative support for the APPG).
