The Breast Cancer Manifesto 2015 includes three bold ambitions that we want to see from the next government.
With the General Election just a few months away each of the political parties are beginning to make promises about what they would do if elected to form the next government. Manifestos will be launched in the next few weeks which will include a range of measures that will affect us all.
Today (Tuesday 17 February) Breast Cancer Care is launching its own manifesto. The Breast Cancer Manifesto 2015 includes three bold ambitions that we want to see from the next government.
Our manifesto calls for the new government to commit to:
- Improving the care and support that people diagnosed with secondary breast cancer receive
- Ensure that younger women have timely access to fertility services before their treatment
- Make sure that all patients receive a holistic needs assessment to help them prepare and cope with altered body image.
The next government will have the opportunity to make a big difference for many of the people affected by breast cancer today. It must be ambitious and commit to improve the care that people receive so that by 2020 everyone can get the support they need to live with and beyond breast cancer.
What can you do?
In the run-up to the election we will be working to make sure that breast cancer is high up on the agenda for all the political parties and individual candidates. To do this though we need your help.
There’s a few things you can do to help:
- email your local candidates and tell them about breast cancer
- find out if there’s an event in your local constituency that you can attend
- read our manifesto and share with friends and family on Facebook and Twitter.
You can do all of these and find out more information at our dedicated General Election section of the website.
